Montana Landscape Management
HydroSeeding

HydroSeeding is a revolutionary breakthrough in the landscaping and construction industry and is today's most efficient and successful method of establishing turf lawns and other forms of vegetation. HydroSeeding is your best option when leaving the soil undisturbed is a priority. Whereas sod can regress, leaving gaps, HydroSeeding establishes an even result and can easily accommodate a custom seed blend in almost any situation. The unique ability to distribute seed evenly, protect seed from environmental disruptions, and maximize water retention makes HydroSeeding is the most effective method of seeding the most economical choice to establish turf grasses.

What separates HydroSeeding by Montana Landscape Management from the rest?

  1. Surface Preparation: Initial ground preparation is the most important step of the process, and a step that we take very seriously. Good preparation will save you much angst in the future so time and money spent on preparation is seldom wasted. We consider whether or not to enhance the soil with additional topsoil, sand or turf compost. If need be, we can blend soils on site with special proprietary equipment.
  2. Amount and Quality of Seed: We use a higher amount of seed per 1,000 sq. feet of lawn area than that of others. We use only the highest quality Scotts® brand of blended seeds, chosen specifically for your site conditions. If necessary, we will use multiple blends to assure excellent turf performance. Additionally, our seeds have the highest estimated germination rates in the industry.
  3. Starter Fertilizers: We use Scotts® Professional polymer coated, time release granular starter fertilizers. This allows nutrients to be released over the entire germination this is essential to the seeds germination and initial establishment of roots. Our exclusive partnership with industry leading suppliers assures you that our performance will exceed that of others in the area. Specifically, we exceed your expectations, a guarantee no other company can offer.
  4. Mulches and Tackifiers: We ONLY use wood based products from the EcoFibre™ line by Can-For Products®. EcoFibre offers the longest fibers available, better matting ability than paper alone, no clumping or crusting, more moisture holding capacity than paper, and the best soil bond available. When site conditions are optimal, straw fiber with the same benefits will be blended or substituted. We also use tackifiers in our Hydroseed mulch which ‘glues’ the seed and mulch to the ground thereby eliminating erosion, drift and seed grouping during watering.
  5. Seeding Equipment: We use only Finn HydroSeeders, the pioneer and industry leader in HydroSeeding equipment. Finn continues to revolutionize the industry by marketing equipment, pumps, agitation systems and products that provide the industries best mixing and application equipment. For you, this means uniform coverage of seed, mulch, fertilizers and tackifiers giving you the thickest, greenest lawn available!

Important factors to consider when deciding how you would like the seed to germinate.

Summer Seeding

From June 1 to September 1, we use a super-absorbent water polymer with our seed and mulch blends. These products allow the soil to absorb water from the air and ground, up to 250X its weight, even when there is little or no rain! The addition of these products expands the application window and allows the seed to germinate better during the hot and dry Montana summers.

HydroSeeding Benefits

HydroSeeding has many advantages over traditional hand seeding and sod installations. Because of its unique ability to hold moisture and reduce or eliminate erosion, HydroSeeding is able to provide fragile seedlings with an optimum germinating environment, resulting in maximum germination. Additionally, HydroSeeding offers the ability to apply granular fertilizers and wood mulches that release nutrients to the soil and prevent wind drift.

HydroSeeding Cost

HydroSeeding is a cost effective way to provide a turf lawn or wild land vegetative mix if you want or require a site specific seed blend. If you would like turf characteristics specific to your site, such as color or type of blade, or if you have a unique conditions, such as excess sun or shade, give us a call! We can blend a mix specific to your needs and desires.

  • Protection from scorching sun which can dry, crack, and kill seeds

  • Protection from birds by holding seeds in a protective mat

  • Protection from wind and rain which can disturb seeds when hand seeding

  • Ensures an even spread and germination of seeds

  • Increases water retention by shielding soil from direct sunlight

  • Reduces germination time by pre-soaking seeds

  • Releases nutrients slowly, ensuring availability and uptake by the plant

  • Guarantees seed to soil contact which reduces germination times

  • Reduces soil preparation labor and eliminates seeding labor

  • Costs only a fraction of sodding (literally)

  • Unlike sodding, should you have any problems, they are easily remedied with spot seeding

  • Sodding is transplanting, HydroSeeding is germinating seed in its permanent environment which reduces complication

  • Hydro mulch decomposes into healthy organic matter for your new lawn

We hope that you are as excited about HydroSeeding as we are! Give us a call or request an estimate online. You will be glad that you did!
